Group Classes (No Partner Needed)

Ballroom, Swing, and Latin Group Classes

Six people dancing in pairs at the 4th Saturday social dance event at Ballroom Dance Chicago, holding hands and facing each other. The are looking at each other, smiling, and learning how to move their arms for the swing dance.

These beginner-friendly group classes do not require a partner.

You'll rotate partners throughout class to both meet new people and learn how to get comfortable dancing with a variety of people. Our studio fosters a warm, no-pressure atmosphere which is why you will quickly forget your nerves and feel right at home.

Rotating partners not only builds community within the class, but it makes you a stronger dancer. If you’re goal is to be able to dance with anyone you meet out and about, this is how you learn! If you want to only learn with your partner, Group Classes for Couples are the best class for you.

The most common place to start:

Drop in to one of our general classes: Ballroom, Swing, Latin, and/or Country. You’ll get to test out a lot of styles and discover what you like. Once you have an idea, jump into a Series classes where you get to spend focused time learning one specific style for 4-8 weeks.

This is not a required path, it’s just what we find most people do. You’re welcome to jump right in with a Series class if the style is what you’ve been hoping to learn!

Coming in 2027, you’ll see more leveled classes for those who want to continue to learn and improve beyond the basics.

Each session is shaped by what you're ready for, helping you move forward, step by step.

“This is a wonderful experience. The teachers are delightful, talented, patient, and fun. This is not a snooty place at all, even though you will certainly feel comfortable in a ballroom if you eventually encounter one. All levels from beginner to competition prep, with high standards and endless patience. Super casual and relaxed.”
