The Drake Hotel - Chicago, IL - Our Favorite Music/Dance Venue

The Drake, Chicago

Dancing at the Drake Hotel in Chicago

Ballroom Dance Chicago loves this Chicago landmark and the amazing variety of bands they host on Friday and Saturday nights. Find a table in the expansive Palm Court, grab a cocktail and enjoy the music (here are music playlists to get you in the mood). Or if you’re a dancer, grab your special someone and hit the dance floor. If you don't know how to dance and need some help, click here

The Drake is our favorite place to dance in Chicago, mainly because of the old school charm and beauty of Palm Court. Go on the Drake’s website for more details about the venue and specific performers. Our favorite band is Sway Chicago, they do a nice mix of classics and contemporary hits. The Drake also hosts salsa nights on the first and second Wednesdays of the month. Get up offa that thing, Chicago, and dance until you feel better.

If you want some pointers on how to handle yourself on a social dance floor, check out this blog post for some tips.

All of the entertainment is free, but we recommend being kind to the servers and bands alike by tipping and enjoying the refreshments the Drake has to offer.

The initial construction of the Drake Hotel in Chicago coast roughly $10,000,000 dollars, which is approximately one tenth of what the current cost would be.

The Drake was purchased by Hilton International in the mid 90s and received an extensive renovation in the late 90s and early 2000s.
