New Spring Group Classes!

Spring has sprung and we’re adding new group classes to our schedule! Join us in our Big Band Ballroom, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Lindy Hop, West Coast Swing, and Salsa “On the 2” classes!

Check out our descriptions of the classes below!

Big Band Ballroom

Similar to our “Ballroom” class, except we focus on music from the Bing Band Era, which includes music from Frank Sinatra, Duke Ellington, Bobby Darin, and many more. Styles in this class are limited to Foxtrot, Peabody, and Swing (in its many forms).

Tango

We teach a combination of Ballroom Tango and Argentine Tango. These classes are 100% Tango, it all of its dramatic glory.

Viennese Waltz

This class started because we take a trip with our clients to Vienna every year and wanted to offer them the opportunity to focus on Viennese Waltz. While we learn syllabus-driven moves, we also talk a lot about how to navigate a very crowded dance floor at The Hofburg.

Lindy Hop

Originating in Harlem in 1928, Lindy Hop is typically danced with 6 and 8-count movements and is a low, bouncy, and energetic dance. Believe it or not, the name came from Charles Lindbergh’s “hop” from New York to Paris, which was contemporaneous with the dance.

West Coast Swing

Is another style of swing dance that is danced to moderate tempo blues, R&B, and in recent times, contemporary music. It is characterized by an elastic look that results from its extension-compression technique of partner connection and is danced primarily in a slotted area on the dance floor.

Salsa “On the 2”

This class also started because we take a trip with our clients to Miami every year and wanted to offer them the opportunity to focus on the various ways of dancing salsa; dancing on count 2! While we learn syllabus-driven moves, we also talk a lot about how to navigate a very crowded dance floor in salsa clubs.

Ballroom Repertory

Think Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers (or La La Land, if you prefer). We focus on learning ballroom choreographies and learning how to travel around the dance floor in a traditional ballroom setting. Master Teacher, Matthew Sove, creates the choreographies and teaches the classes.
