Dance Teacher Apprentice
Ballroom Dance Chicago is now accepting applicants for their Apprenticeship program for Winter 2019. All dance and teacher training is provided, and no prior experience is required. The Apprenticeship focuses on engaging students in the fundamental techniques and practices of partner dance with the aim of getting Apprentices to a place where they can teach beginner ballroom/latin dance students by the completion of the Apprenticeship. In addition to receiving dance and teacher training, Apprentices will act as a host at the studio and contribute to the environment by assisting in group classes, greeting incoming students, and lending a hand when necessary. While this is a volunteer position, trainees will receive dance training and individual mentorship, along with gaining insight into running a dance studio.
Apprentices will gain skills in the following:
Fundamental dance techniques and beginning to advanced patterns in Ballroom & Latin dances
Effective teaching methods in a one-on-one environment
Directing both small and large group dance classes by assisting and shadowing a lead teacher
Communicating effectively throughout customer service experiences
Professional correspondence with potential clients through both phone and email communications

Fundamental sales techniques and effective communication practices for describing and selling services
A typical Apprentice spends 3 nights a week at the studio (4039B N Ravenswood Ave) for 4-5 hours at a time, for a period of 1-3 months.
