We recommended that you start taking lessons at least 3 months before your wedding day. If you have a hectic schedule or you are looking for a more choreographed first dance, you should start 6 months before your wedding day. Starting early will give you enough time to build dance skills as well as confidence. Most of all, besides dance steps, it takes time for couples to feel comfortable moving together on the dance floor.
How should I choose my first dance song?
There are two ways to choose the song for your first dance. First, you could pick a song that both of you like, such as a song with lyrics and melody that touch both of you or a song with lyrics that you think is suitable for your wedding. And then, you can have your teacher find a perfect dance for it. Second, you could go by choosing the dance you like, and find a song that would be suitable for the dance. If time allows, you can begin with learning the basics of a few dances and get the feel for them. And then, you can choose the dance you like and find a song that would work for that particular dance. In this way, not only will you learn your first dance, but also other dances that you can do throughout the reception.
A good wedding dance song should be easy to dance to with a clear, steady beat. The tempo of the song should not be too slow. Many couples find it harder to dance to songs with slower tempo because it requires more muscular control.
How long are the lessons?
